Sir,
I am directed by Secretary Major General Peel to
transmit to you, for the information of Secretary Sir Edward Lytton, the enclosed copy of a letter from Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins, R.E., Her Majesty's Commissioner for the Survey of
the Boundary between Her Majesty's Possessions and those of
the United States in North America, giving an account of a
recent Expedition made by him and a Detachment of his Party
to British Columbia.
