Bond to Lytton
14 Lowndes Street, Belgrave Square
September 29th 1858
I beg most respectfully to ask you to favor me with your patronage, to procure some appointment in any suitable capacity to proceed to British Columbia, a Colony for which I believe I am well adapted, having resided several years in the United States. I am strong, active and energetic, 35 years of age and married, and at present employed by an Estate and House agent in this district—am a pretty good practical Mechanic, well aquainted with American agriculture, can make Drawings and Sketches to scale, and can speak some French.
I have testimonials of theManuscript image highest character of my antecedents, and can refer to a party (known to you) as to my present moral and business character.
My utmost ambition would be realized if I could get to British Columbia, as a permanent resident, but I should also feel extremely grateful for any other employment, here or elsewhere that would tend to improve my present position, from which (for want of capital) I can never hope to rise above a small weekly Salary, nor does it develope half my capabilities.
With the most respectful apologies for addressing you without an introduction.
I have the honor to be
Your most obedient humble Servant
Fredk W. Bond
