Moody to Under-Secretary of State
27th December 1858
Sir,
I have the honour to inform you of my arrival at Vancouver's Island the day before yesterday.
Immediately on anchoring I proceeded round in a boat to Victoria and reported myself to the Governor, by whom I was most kindly welcomed. We had a long and interesting interview.
As soon as I have settled my family in Victoria I hope with the Governor's permission to proceed at once up the Fraser River to join Captains Grant and Parsons R.E.
I have the honor to be Sir,
Yr most obedient humble Servant
R.C. Moody
Col. R.E.
