I have to acquaint you that I have appointed Captain Gosset R.E. who has recently held the office of Surveyor General of Ceylon, to be Treasurer of British Columbia.
I annex for your information and guidance a copy of the letter in which I have notified to Captain Gosset the terms of his appointment. 1
I have not been abletoManuscript image to obtain the Queen's signature to the Warrant for this appointment in time to forward it to you by the present mail but it shall be transmitted by the first opportunity and I have to instruct you in the meantime on the authority of this Despatch to appoint Captain Gosset to the office of Treasurer and to recognise him in that capacity on his arrival in the Colony.
