2. In a letter addressed to the Collector of Customs at
Victoria byby a
Mr G.B. Wright, a respectable Merchant, and dated
at
Bridge River,
April 2nd, some specimens of native Copper,
quartz and gold are enclosed, and
Mr Wright states that the reports
at that time from the upper Country are of very rich, but shallow
diggings; that large quantities of gold were then being taken from
the Wars, and that a great many of the sluicing companies who have
permanent Diggings were commencing work, and also that men were
continuingcontinuing to rush forward to the upper
Fraser in large numbers.
