I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of
Sir Edward
                  Bulwer Lytton's Despatch N
o 71, of the

for my information the copies of letters which he had received

from
from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and the Secretary
of State for War, containing observations on the site selected

British Columbia.

               2. I have great satisfaction in learning that Her Majesty's
Government approves the steps that have been taken to survey and
subdivide the site into Building Lots, and I will not fail to
give attention to the remarks offered by the Lords Commissioners
of the Admiralty with regard to the necessity for stationing
a
a
Pilot vessel at the entrance of
Frasers River, and to the
selection of a Port in the northern portion of the Colony.
