I have the honor to acquaint Your Grace that Colonel Moody commanding the Troops in British Columbia has made requisition upon me for Funds to meet the amount of Military Pay due to the Royal Engineers for the months of JulyManuscript imageJuly and August, and the amounts of Working pay due to the Royal Engineers and Royal Marines for the month of August, amounting in the whole to the sum of, in round numbers, Three Thousand Pounds.
2. As the Funds in the Colonial Chest are insufficient to admit of this demand upon them, I shall be obliged to draw for the amount upon Her Majesty's Paymaster General, and I trust your Grace will be pleased to obtain the necessary authority from the Treasury for the Bills presented on thisManuscript imagethis account to be paid when they become due.
