Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 14th Ultimo,
transmitting an Extract from a despatch from the Governor
of British Columbia, together with the Copy of a Proclamation
issued by him imposing duties on imports into that Colony,
I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's
Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of Sir E.B.
Lytton, that My Lords have communicated with the Lords of
the Committee of Privy Council for Trade and there appears
to be no objection to this Proclamation.
