Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 16th Instant; I am directed by Mr Secretary Herbert to acquaint you that the dates, on which the several Officers comprising the British Columbia Expedition, commenced duty in this Country in connection with their Colonial Appointments, are as follows,
Colonel Moody 18th August 1858
Captain Grant 21st August —
Captain Parsons 1st September
Captain Luard 1st September
Lieut Lempriere 1st September
