Sir,
With reference to your private letter enclosing the copy of one from Mr Brew the Chief Inspector of Police dated the 11th of November requesting that the repayment of the whole amount advanced to him in this country and in Nova Scotia may not be insisted on I have to refer you to my despatch No 38 ofManuscript image the 11th of November instructing you to inform Mr Brew that under the peculiar circumstances of the case Her Majesty's Government had granted to him the sum of One hundred pounds (£100) advanced by the Government of Nova Scotia, in order to reimburse him for the losses he has sustained.
