I have received from Captain Parsons R.E. a letter dated Van Couver's Island 9th November last, stating that he proposed to assign a value of four shillings (4s/-) to the American Dollar in making payments to the Royal EngineersinManuscript image in British Columbia, and I enclose, for the information and guidance of yourself and of the Military Authorities in the Colony, the copy of a letter which I have received from the Treasury defining the rates which should regulate the issue to the Troops of United States Gold Coins.
