I transmit herewith for your information the copy of an Act which
has been passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand and to which Her
Majesty has been advised to give

Her assent, entitled "An Act to make
provision for the management of Gold Fields in the Colony of New
               Zealand."

I have forwarded this Act to you because the Colonial Land and
Emigration Commissioners, to whom it was referred, have reported that it
has been judiciously framed and it may perhaps prove useful to you in
considering any further regulations which it may be thought desirable to
               make in connection
with
 with the Gold discoveries in
British Columbia.
