Many questions have lately arisen on account of the claims
of the Hudson Bay Company to the lands contiguous to their
Forts on the lower parts of Fraser River, and difficulties
are now felt
in
in consequence of those claims not being determined,
in fact the progress of settlement in some of the Towns, is
retarded from this cause; I would therefore very respectfully
submit the matter to your Grace, and with reference to my
Despatch of the 31st May 1859 No. 161, and more particularly
with regard to the last paragraph, would request Your Grace to
favor me
with
with such instructions, that I may be enabled definitely
to settle the boundaries of the Company's claim at Langley, Hope,
and Yale, and thus fix the exact limits of those Towns.

I think it will be right to inform the Govr that the Duke of Newcastle and the Hudson's Bay Company are in communication with each other on this subject, and that His Grace hopes it will shortly be in his power to tell the Governor the decision which shall be arrived at.
