My Lord Duke,
I have the honor to acknowledge your Grace's despatch No 48 of the 24th August, acquainting me that the Claims made by the Hudson Bay Company to lands in British Columbia had been Manuscript image been referred to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and requesting me to abstain as far as possible from dealing with these claims, and I beg to acquaint Your Grace that the course indicated by Your instructions in reference to the lands in question, has been carefully ob-
served
