Hamilton writes to Rogers to report that the “Paymaster General” has been authorized to pay Gossett's bills, which total £4,000 “for the general service of the Colony.”
The minutes ask that Douglas be advised of Hamilton's letter.

I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you that the Paymaster General has been authorized to accept and pay two Bills as per Margin

£4,000
drawn up by Mr W.D. Gossett, Treasurer of British Columbia, for the sum of £4,000 for the general service of the Colony.
