No. 72
26 March 1861
I have to acquaint you that a claim has been received from the Admiralty for repayment of the cost of the entertainment of the Bishop of British Columbia, on board Her Majesty's Gun Boat "Grappler" in October last amounting to £35.7.0.
This charge is one which should be defrayed from theManuscript image Colonial Revenues and in the absence of any funds in this Country belonging to British Columbia, I have requested the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury to repay the Admiralty out of the Parliamentary Grant for the Colony. A diminution to the extent of £35.7.0 is thus occasioned in the amount of the Grant available for the general service of British Columbia.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble servant,
