With reference to Mr Elliot's letter of the 22nd ultimo, we have the honor to state that, having made several enquiries at the office of HM's Paymaster General for Colonel Moody's salary as Commissioner of Works, British Columbia, we are informed that the Treasury Authority to issue the same for December quarter 1861 has not been received by that department.
We beg, therefore, to request that you will be good enoughtoManuscript image to cause the necessary directions to be issued in the usual manner.
