Alice Duffy recd information from the "War Office" the
13th August 1861, that her Son "James Duffy" of the "Royal
Engineers" was frozen to death in British Columbia on the 9th
January in same year," his effects at the time of his death
consisted of over £58 and some landed property. She took out
letters of administration and recd the above amt.
She is now anxious to know what is the nature of the landed
property which belonged to her Son at the time of his death. Viz
the acreage—the part of B. Columbia in which it is situated and
how she is to get possession of it and such information as you may
consider useful to Widow Alice Duffy.
