I have duly received your Despatch N
o 49 of the
3rd September last, advising me of the manner in which payment is
to be made of the sum of £500 contributed by this Government
towards the expense of the survey of the Coast of
British Columbia.

2. With reference thereto I have the honor to state that,
prior to the receipt of your Grace's Despatch, the amount in
question for the current year had been disbursed by this
Government upon the Requisitions of the Officer in charge
of the Survey, to enable him to defray the cost of 6 months
hire from the Hudson Bay C

in carrying out the work.
3. I enclose herewith copies of the said Requisitions,
but for the coming year I will take care that the wishes of
the Admiralty in respect of the mode of payment, are complied with.
