Mr Elliot
The ansr of the T-y on the B.C. Loan Proclamation when recd will enable us to deal with this Letter. As we wrote to the Treasury yesterday for the 2d time on the subject of the Bills which Govr D (so promptly) draws on the Agents I think we may give the Treasury a day or two breathing time, & defer pressing them at all events till Monday.
ABd 11 July
Tell the Agents that the Bills cannot be accepted until the L.C. of the Treasury have expressed their concurrence in the Loan Ordinance, and express a hope that the persons in whose hands they are will feel no objection, on hearing this explanation, to hold over theManuscript image Bills for a few days. Draft.
Perhaps one of the gentlemen of the Division will call on Mr Buckland and tell him privately that we are quite aware how recently they have received the Ordinance, but mention the fact that we are embarrassed by this rapid influx of Bills; and ascertain what prospects of an early decision.
TFE 11 July
Mr Buckland has promised to expedite a decision on the loan Ordinance, & thinks that if we do not hear from the Treasury by Wednesday next the bills may be accepted.
