Sir,
I have the honor to acquaint you that I have authorized the Colonial Agents to issue to Major Gossett the half salary to which he may be entitled, as Treasurer of British Columbia, during the period of his leave of absence, including the four months additional leave which was notified to you in my despatch No. 4 oftheManuscript image the 16th of January.
My despatch No. 15 of the 14th instant will have apprized you of the extent to which the Colony is already indebted to the Agents, and it will now devolve upon you to make further provision for meeting the payments on account of Major Gossett's half salary by remitting the amount to this country.
