I have the honor to transmit to you the enclosed copy of a letter
from the Agents General for Crown Colonies, accompanied by a detailed
statement of the negociation of the Loan of £50,000, authorized by the
British Columbia Loan Act of
1863.
In your Despatch No. 28 of the
13th of May last, you
compare compare the
negotiation in the Colony of a former Loan of £50,000, with the
negotiation (as far as you were acquainted with it at that date), of a
Loan of £40,000 for
Vancouver Island by the Agents General in
London.
With reference to this comparison, the Agents General add a
complete statement of the latter transaction, together with their
observations upon the whole subject.
