In the absence of the Governor I immediately on the receipt of this despatch communicated with Captain Holmes who, as you are already aware from Mr Seymour's despatch No. 6 of the 16th of May last, has been employed with the Surveyor General in marking out the great line of road about to be constructed from Quesnel Mouth, (the present terminus of the waggon road) to the Cariboo Mines.

See confl despatch from Gov Austin. The mode of dealing with this will depend on the terms in which that despatch was sent to Gov Seymour?

I did not see the private Letter to Govr Seymour as far as I can recollect nor do I know by whom it was signed or written. I suppose, from Mr Irving's minute that it is not on record. I suppose nothing remains but to await the result of it.
