I have the honor to report for the information of the
Duke of Newcastle that under the authority of your letter of
the
14th January last Mr Seymour, previous to his
departure from this Country, selected furniture for the
Government House of
British Columbia at a total cost of
£1239.11.2,
and and that the Crown Agents reimbursed him a
further sum of £204.18.10, as authorized by your letter
of the
17th Ultimo for the cost of furniture purchased
by him, for his residence.
Just before his departure
Mr Seymour enumerated
the remaining articles necessary to complete the furnishing
[of] his Government House, and as his requirements appeared
reasonable (the additional articles consisting
entirely entirely
of bedroom furniture) the Crown Agents have complied with
them at a further cost of £229.1.0, making a total of £1673.11.0.
