I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th ultimo transmitting a copy of a despatch from the Governor of British Columbia enclosing copy of a notice which he had issued calling upon all Magistrates, Constables and other public officers to furnish Dr Rae with any aid which he might require in surveying therouteManuscript image route for an Electric Telegraph across the Rocky Mountains; and on behalf of myself and my Colleagues in the direction of this Company I have to request that you will convey to the Secretary of State for the Colonial Department our best thanks for his obliging communication.
