I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit to you for the information of the Duke of Newcastle the accompanying copy of a letter from the Horse Guards with its enclosure addressed to the Deputy Adjutant General Royal Engineers by Colonel Moody, commanding the party of Royal Engineers lately employed inBritishManuscript image British Columbia, on the subject of the proposed appointment of Captain Luard R.E. to be Commissioner of Lands and Surveyor General in that Colony.
It appears that the Colonial Office is already in possession of copies of the correspondence referred to in these Papers.
