I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit
to you for the information of the
Duke of Newcastle the
accompanying copy of a letter from the Horse Guards with its
enclosure addressed to the Deputy Adjutant General Royal
Engineers by
Colonel Moody, commanding the party of Royal
Engineers lately employed in
British British Columbia, on the subject
of the proposed appointment of
Captain Luard R.E. to be
Commissioner of Lands and Surveyor General in that Colony.
It appears that the Colonial Office is already in possession
of copies of the correspondence referred to in these Papers.
