With reference to my Despatch No. 68 of the 16th Ultimo I transmit to you herewith the Queen's Warrant for the appointment of Mr. Joseph William Trutch to be Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works and Surveyor General for the Colony of British Columbia in the room of Colonel Moody, resigned.
The Crown Agents for the Colonies have been instructed to pay to Mr. Gordon Gairdner the Chief Clerk of my Office, the sum of Thirty Shillings (30/s) being the price of the Stamp on the enclosed Warrant; and you will call on Mr. J.W. Trutch to repay this amount into the Colonial Treasury.
