I have the honor to transmit to you for your information a copy of
a letter from the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company from which it
appears that the Company have sent
Dr. Rae to
Ruperts Land for the
purpose of ascertaining the most
practicable practicable route for an Electric
Telegraph from
Red River to the head of
Fraser's River; and they are
anxious that he should, while in the country, have an opportunity of
surveying the probable route for a line from the head waters of the
Fraser to
New Westminster.
