Sir,
I have the honor to report that previous to Governor Seymour's departure from this Colony he selected Mr Henry Maynard Ball to fill the appointment of Acting ColonialSecretaryManuscript image Secretary during my temporary Administration of the Government.
2. Mr Ball has held the Appointment of Assistant Gold Commissioner and Stipendiary Magistrate in this Colony since 1859; he has also been a member of the Legislative Council since the formation of that Board in 1863, and I know no one in the Colony morerespectedManuscript image respected by all classes of the Community.
