With reference to your letter of the
5th Ultimo,
forwarding a Return of payments made in
British Columbia
to certain out Pensioners of Chelsea Hospital, I am
directed by
Earl de Grey and Ripon to acquaint you, for
the information of
Mr Secretary Cardwell, that authority
has been given to the Paymaster General for payment to the
Crown Agents of the sum of (£80.19.6) eighty pounds,
nineteen shillings and sixpence,
the the amount of the said disbursement.
I am also directed to acquaint you, with reference to
the provisional instructions given by the Colonial Government
for the payment of pension to
William H. Rowlings, late
Royal Engineers, that the Secretary to the Hudsons's Bay
Company, to whom the Pension Documents of the man were
transmitted in
August 1862, has been requested to instruct
the Agent of the Company to forward them to the Secretary
to the Government of
British Columbia.
