Sir,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Cardwell to transmit to you a Copy of a letter from Mr. James Churchill applying on behalf of Mr. Alfred Waddington for certain consessions to enable him to complete the construction of the Bute Inlet Road in British Columbia.
I am also to enclose a Copy of a Despatch addressed to you in the Colony of the 23rd of September last relative to a Petition from Mr. Waddington praying for compensation for losses he had sustained.
I am to request that you will inform Mr. Cardwell whether you have sufficient information in this Country to be able to furnish the materials for an answer to Mr. Churchill's presentManuscript image application.
