Seymour to Elliot (Assistant Under-Secretary)
London
19 May 1866

Sir,
I have the honor to forward, for your consideration, a letter adressed to me by Mr H. Commeline, Postmaster in Cariboo, British Columbia, soliciting an extension of the term of leave of absence granted to him by the Officer Administering the Government.
As at present informed I can see no objectiontoManuscript image to an addition of three months leave being granted to Mr Commeline.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
Frederick Seymour

Mr Commeline has just come home on leave of absence for 6 months to see a dying sister. It is proposed to confirm this Leave.
In his Letter he asks for an extension of six months—before he knows if his first leave has been confirmed—on acct of a Law suit which is to come off on or after August.
Considering the distance & the expense incident upon a journey to & from B.C. I conclude that this extension, though somewhat irregulary applied for, will be granted.
