Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 40 of the 25th April reporting the loss of the Mails on board the "Labouchere."
Upon the receipt of a Telegram from the Acting Consul at San Francisco announcingtheManuscript image the wreck of that vessel, I caused triplicates to be prepared of the Despatches sent from Southampton on the 2nd March. These were transmitted to you by the Mail of the 16th May.
