I have just had the honor to receive Your Lordship's despatches described in the margin.

The first calling upon me for a Report on a letter sent direct by Sir James DouglastoManuscript image to Your Lordship complaining of some acts of the Legislature of British Columbia. The second addressed to Governor Kennedy directing him to apply to Sir James Douglas for a Copy of the letter which was enclosed in the first.
2. I shall not fail to comply with the directions contained in these despatches, for, though I think the writer would now probably wish the matter to drop, it will be advisable that my explanationshouldManuscript image should not be withheld.
