My Lord Duke,
I have the honor to forward for Your Grace's consideration
a letter from Mr Henry Fowler, at present employed in the
Officeof
of the Supreme Court of Vancouver Island. Mr Fowler is
dissatisfied with his position and wishes his case to be brought
under your notice.

I have not much personal knowledge of Mr Fowler, but I
hear him highly spoken of. I fear that under present circumstances
there is but little chance of my being able to offer Mr Fowler
any promotion, but I can secure to him, as long as he behaves well,

Mr Fowler was 2d Clerk in the Colonial Secretary's office Vancouver's Island to which he was appointed by the Govr in Dec 1864—salary £206. At the Union he, like many others lost his office. The Govr says he can give Mr F. employment with £200 to £300 a year as long as he behaves well.
