My Lord Duke,
I have had the honor to receive Your Grace's despatch No 24
of the 11th of May expressing regret that an Act of Indemnity
had not been obtained from theLegislative
Legislative Council in regard to the
expenditure of certain monies in the late Colony of Vancouver
Island without Legislative sanction.

considerable trouble the Auditor managed to place the public
