Sargeaunt to Rogers (Permanent Under-Secretary)
Offices of the Crown Agents for the Colonies,
Spring Gardens, London, S.W.
14 August 1867
Sir,
As Vancouver Island has long since been united with the Colony of British Columbia, and as from the date of the Union taking effect the Form of Government recently existing in Vancouver Island as a separate Colony ceased, whilst one Executive and Legislative authority has been established for the two territories united in one Colony, it appears to the Crown Agents that the practice of keeping a separate Vancouver Island and BritishColumbiaManuscript image Columbia Government account should be discontinued; and I have the honor to apply for the sanction of the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos for the amalgamation of the two accounts.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient servant,
W.C. Sargeaunt
