Murdoch to Elliot (Assistant Under-Secretary)
Emigration Office
11th February 1867
Sir,
With reference to your letter of 31st ultimo I have to report for the information of the Earl of Carnarvon, that in obedience to His Lordships instructions I have applied to Capt Kennedy for information as to the extent and value of the Land erroneously cut off from the Public Park at Victoria, Vancouver Island, and sold by the Hudson Bay Co. Capt Kennedy, however, states that in the absence of any documents to which he could refer, he is unableManuscript image to give any reliable information on the subject. I apprehend that under these circumstances it will be necessary to apply to the Colony for the particulars required for the settlement of the question.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your Obedient
Humble Servant
