Sir,
I am directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge your letter of the 13th Ultimo stating that a Requisition for Lighthouse stores for Vancouver's Island, made in April 1865 has only been partially complied with, and in reply to refer you, for the information of His Grace the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, to the letter from this Department of the 28th August 1865 forwarding a Bill of Lading for Stores shipped in the "Severn;" 500 galls. of oil, and the stores included in the requisition totheManuscript image the Crown Agents, which was transmitted to this Board in the letter from the Colonial Office of the 15th July 1865, were forwarded to the Governor of Vancouvers Island in the "Severn" and entered on the Bill of lading. I am to add that this Board are not aware that any portion of the requisition was not complied with.

Yes. But the Bd of Trade shd first correct this letter. There is, I imagine some clerical error & I cannot make [grammar?] of it. Manuscript imageCan the B. of T. give us a copy of the requisition & bill of lading. If they could, we might be able to see what was wanted witht referring back to B. Columbia.
The Col Secty of B.C. shd have told the Crown Agents what was wanting & this shd be pointed out.

I annex Dfts dealing with this matter. By minutes on 8749 you will see where there has been an oversight in the correspondence.
The requisition is on 6393 V.C.I. The Bill of Lading wh I have seen simply mentions "77 cans oil, 1 Case Stores, 2 Cases stained glass."
