I am directed by Secretary
Sir John Pakington to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the
2nd January last forwarding
a despatch (No 62) from the Administrator of the Government of
British Columbia on the subject of the Arms, Accoutrements, &c left
in possession of the Government of that Colony by
Colonel Moody,
and in reply I am to acquaint you
for for the information of the
Earl
of Carnarvon that under all the Circumstances,
Sir John Pakington
has consented to the following arrangement, the details of which
are given in the accompanying list. Viz
All charges on account of the
Accoutrements to be remitted.
Full price to be charged for the
Ammunition.
Half price to be charged for the
Revolver Pistols and
Appurtenances.
The Carbines, Fowling Pieces, Swords &c will be allowed to remain
in the hands of the Colony, for Volunteer Service, on loan.
