Sir,
With reference to Governor Kennedy's Despatch No. 81 of the 20th October, I have the honor to acquaint you that the Hudson's Bay Company have agreed to repay the amount received by them for that portion of the public Park at Victoria which was sold in error, and that they propose that the sum to be repaid should be determined by the Emigration Commissioners.
As there are no means in this Country of ascertaining the exact extent of the land alienated or the sum received for it, I have to request that you will furnish mewithManuscript image with the most precise and accurate information that can be procured upon these points.
Meanwhile the preparation of the Deed for the retransfer of Vancouver Island to the Crown will not be interrupted.
