Sir,
I transmit to you, for your consideration and with reference to your Despatch No. 58 of the 6th April, a copy of a letter from Mr. Watson giving his version of the circumstances connected with the abolition of his office of Colonial Treasurer of Vancouvers Island, and his reasons for declining to accept an appointment in lieuthereofManuscript image thereof which was offered to him by you.
As some of Mr. Watson's statements are in contradiction of those which have been made by you in the Despatch to which I have referred I should wish you to furnish me with a further Report on the subject.
