Sir,
I have the honor to inform you that an application has been received from the Belgian Minister at this Court requesting that inquiries may be instituted respecting the fate of a person named J.W. Cramer or Kramer who in 1862wasManuscript image was in the service of the governor of Vancouver Island.
A translation is herewith enclosed of a letter which was addressed by him in that year to his mother, a resident at Antwerp, since that date it appears that no intelligence has been received respecting him.
