I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatches Nos. 146 of the 22nd November and 2 of the 1st February—the first enclosing copies of a correspondence with Mr. Alfred Waddington relative to his application for a Charter granting him certain privileges in theeventManuscript image event of his making a road from Bute Inlet, across the Rocky Mountains to the Hudsons Bay territory beyond, the second containing additional remarks respecting his project.
