I have the honor to transmit to you, for your information, a copy of a letter from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty forwarding extracts from a letter from Rear Admiral the Honorable G.F. Hastings, Commanding the Pacific Squadron giving an account of his visit to the gold Diggings of Cariboo andpointingManuscript image pointing out the great difficulty that would be experienced in sending any body of men from Her Majesty's ship to that place.
