I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 106, 22nd August reporting on the results of the Land System in the Colony of British Columbia.
I see no reason for interfering with the system at present pursued though it is one which in case of any large increase inImmigrationManuscript image Immigration will require careful watching.
I have to instruct you to take care that there is no neglect in defining and recording carefully all rights of property as they are acquired.
If any such neglect were allowed it would cause great embarrassment to the settlers hereafter.
