My Lord,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 99 of the 21st October, acquainting me that application has been made for the issue of an Exequatur to Mr Mathew Trotter JohnstonasManuscript image as Consul for the North German Confederation in this Colony, and desiring me to report to Your Lordship whether I am aware of any objection to the appointment of this Gentleman.
2. I have the honor to inform Your Lordship in reply, that I know of no reason why Mr Johnston should notbeManuscript image be a fitting person to fill the proposed Office.
