I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to state, for the information of Lord Granville, with reference to your Letter of 25th ulto further respecting the charge on account of Royal Engineers in British Columbia, that My Lords have no further observations to make on this subject which They consider disposed of by Their Letter of 5th December 1867.

This answer is the result of a reminder to the Ty that our letter of the 17th July last remained unanswered. I think it was left so purposely the Ty seeing no reason for & declining to reconsider their refusal to pay the long litigated £10704.16.7 in regard to which see 3/3372/68.
The Governor's despatchManuscript image of 2d Feby 1868 (3372) does not actually called [call] for any answer, & I think this matter may therefore be allowed to drop & all the papers be put by?
