My Lord,
I take the liberty of sending the enclosed statement just received from my Son, Mr W.H. Your Lordship may safely rely upon the truth of my Son's statement in every particular, and, apologising for thus troubling your Lordship,
I remain My Lord,

This is not at all a bad account of what has passed.
I would tell Mr Fletcher that Ld G. had perused his son's account of what has passed at Bella Coola. That his son is probably aware that if he wishes any statement of this kind to be made a ground of action on the part of the S. of State he must forward it thro' the Govr. That meantime Ld G. is glad to be able to inform Mr F. that what has passed has not been overManuscript imagelooked by the Local Authorities.

I have omitted that such a statement ought to have [been] forwarded thro' the Govr, as in the P.S. the son says he had done so.
